Episodic fiction was a perfect fit for that media (though we should note that stand alone short stories and serialized novels seem to have been more common even then, indicating a limited appetite for episodic stories, or perhaps a limited interest in or aptitude for writing them).
Both the episodic novel and the episodic nonfiction (essay, memoir) are chronological, presenting events of a life on a timeline. The events may be told as scenes, anecdotes, vignettes, or summary. The events may or may not be linked causally, but they occur one after another.
Slices of Life: Personal Narratives. A personal narrative is an essay that describes an actual experience in the author's life. Often written for college writing classes, academic applications and creative writing assignments, these brief pieces tell the author's story using elements usually reserved for fiction writing, such as description, imagery, characterization and dialogue.
Therefore, little to no opinions should be stated. Examples include biographies, informational essays, and memoirs. One form of nonfiction is creative nonfiction. Creative non fiction is different from non fiction because the events in creative nonfiction are told in a story like fashion in order to appeal to the reader and seem more interesting.
